RESUMEN

In this article, a bromide substituted 2D layered perovskite having a repeated vertical orientation and coexisting with the bulk of a 3D perovskite is reported for the first time. This novel structure is obtained through controlled compositional engineering of the perovskite precursor solution. The photovoltaic performance of this novel 2D/3D perovskite was higher than that of 3D MAPbI3 and a maximum photoconversion efficiency (PCE) of 17.4% was achieved. The devices fabricated using this perovskite heterostructure were stable and retained their initial PCE up to 20 days when kept open in a laboratory environment with 40% relative humidity.

RESUMEN

This research is intended to evaluate the efficacy of percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) versus percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP) in osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture (OVCF), which is associated with post-operative pain. Eligible studies were screened by searching multiple databases and sources such as PubMed, Cochrane and EMBASE for search terms updated to October 2023, and relevant literature sources were searched. Randomized, controlled, prospective or retrospective, and cohort studies were eligible. For the analysis of the primary results, an analysis of the data was carried out, such as mean difference (MD) or odds ratio (OR), and 95% confidence interval (CI). In the present research, 1933 research was screened in 4 databases, and 30 articles were chosen to be examined under strict exclusion criteria. No statistical significance was found in the use of bone cement in the PVP group and PKP (MD, -0.60; 95% CI, -1.40, 0.21, p = 0.15); PKP was associated with a reduced risk of cement leak compared with PVP group (OR, 2.18; 95% CI, 1.38, 3.46, p = 0.0009); no statistical significance was found in the wound VAS score in PVP operation compared with that of PKP (MD, 0.16; 95% CI, -0.07, 0.40, p = 0.17); no statistical significance was found between the time of PVP operation and the time of PKP operation (MD, -2.65; 95% CI, -8.91, 3.60, p = 0.41). Compared with PVP technology, the PKP treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures reduces post-operative cement leakage, but there is no significant difference in the number of operative cement and wound VAS after operation. Nor did there appear to be a statistically significant difference in time between the two operations.

RESUMEN

Quasi-two-dimensional (2D) perovskites are highly promising light-harvesting materials for commercialization of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) owing to the excellent materials stability. However, the coexistence of multiple n-value species in 2D perovskites often causes increased complexities in crystallization that can negatively affect the eventual photovoltaic performance. Herein, we present a binary solution based strategy via introducing nontoxic and widely accessible CH3COOH (HAc) as a co-solvent for preparing high-quality 2D perovskite films. Based on a 2D perovskite model system, (AA)2MA4Pb5I16 (n = 5), we show that the prenucleation and grain growth kinetics are appreciably modified with HAc, which benefits from the strong electron-donating ability of HAc with the key component of PbI2, leading to formation of favorable cluster aggregates and resultant modulation of crystal growth. With the HAc-based method, the devices yield a boosted photovoltaic efficiency of 18.55% with an impressive photovoltage of 1.26 V. The champion cells exhibit a supreme thermal stability, showing <3% efficiency degradation under continuous thermal aging for 800 h.

RESUMEN

To overcome the poor aqueous solubility and enhance the anticancer effects of amentoflavone (AF), a nontoxic and biodegradable amphiphilic copolymer, poly(ethyleneglycol)-distearoylphosphatidylethanolamine (DSPE-PEG2000 ), was introduced to prepare AF micelles using the thin-film hydration method. Amentoflavone was successfully encapsulated into the core, achieving an encapsulation efficiency of 98.80 ± 0.24% and a drug loading efficiency of 2.96 ± 0.12%. The resulting micelles exhibited a spherical shape with a particle size of approximately 25.99 nm. The solubility of AF was significant improved by 412-fold, and cumulative drug release studies showed that AF release was much faster from the micelles compared with the free drug. The release of AF was sustained over time and followed a degradation-based kinetic model, similar to polymeric systems. After oral administration, the AF-loaded micelles demonstrated an enhanced oral bioavailability, which was 3.79 times higher than that of free AF. In vitro evaluations of the micelles' antitumor effects revealed a significantly greater efficacy compared with free AF. These findings highlight the tremendous potential of DSPE-PEG2000 micelles as a drug delivery carrier for improving the solubility and therapeutic efficacy of AF.

RESUMEN

The stability of organic solar cells is a key issue to promote practical applications. Herein, we demonstrate that the device performance of organic solar cells is enhanced by an Ir/IrOx electron-transporting layer, benefiting from its suitable work function and heterogeneous distribution of surface energy in nanoscale. Notably, the champion Ir/IrOx-based devices exhibit superior stabilities under shelf storing (T80 = 56696 h), thermal aging (T70 = 13920 h), and maximum power point tracking (T80 = 1058 h), compared to the ZnO-based devices. It can be attributed to the stable morphology of photoactive layer resulting from the optimized molecular distribution of the donor and acceptor and the absence of photocatalysis in the Ir/IrOx-based devices, which helps to maintain the improved charge extraction and inhibited charge recombination in the aged devices. This work provides a reliable and efficient electron-transporting material toward stable organic solar cells.

RESUMEN

Although accumulated evidence supports the notion that calpain contributes to eye disease, the mechanisms by which calpain promotes RPE injury are not defined. The present study is aimed at investigating whether the effect of NaIO3-exos (exosomes derived from RPE cells under NaIO3 stimulation) on the dysfunction of the autophagy-lysosomal pathway (ALP) and apoptosis is based on its regulation of calpain activation in ARPE-19 cells and rats. The results showed that calpain-2 activation, ALP dysfunction, and apoptosis were induced by NaIO3-exos in ARPE-19 cells. NaIO3-exo significantly increased autophagic substrates by activating lysosomal dysfunction. ALP dysfunction and apoptosis in vitro could be eliminated by knocking down calpain-2 (si-C2) or the inhibitor calpain-2-IN-1. Further studies indicated that NaIO3-exo enhanced calpain-2 expression, ALP dysfunction, apoptosis, and retinal damage in rats. In summary, these results demonstrate for the first time that calpain-2 is one of the key players in the NaIO3-exo-mediated ALP dysfunction, apoptosis, and retinal damage and identify calpain-2 as a promising target for therapies aimed at age-related macular degeneration (AMD).

RESUMEN

Quasi-2D Ruddlesden-Popper (RP) perovskites with superior stability are admirable candidates for perovskite solar cells (PSCs) toward commercialization. However, the device performance remains unsatisfactory due to the disordered crystallization of perovskites. In this work, the effects of sulfonium cations on the evolution of intermediates and photovoltaic properties of 2D RP perovskites are investigated. The introduction of sulfonium cations leads to preferred intermediate transformation and improved film quality of perovskites. The resulting devices deliver a champion efficiency of 19.08% at room temperature and 20.52% at 180 K, due to reduced recombination and enhanced charge transport. More importantly, the unencapsulated device maintains 84% of the initial efficiency under maximum power point (MPP) tracking at 40 °C for 1000 h. This work helps to gain a comprehensive understanding of the crystallization process of quasi-2D perovskites and provides a simple strategy to modulate the intermediates of perovskites.

RESUMEN

Textile-reinforced concrete (TRC) is a cement-based composite material that uses textile as a reinforcement material. The weft-direction fiber bundles in the traditional orthogonally arranged warp-weft textile hardly bear force, and its bonding strength with the weft fiber bundle is not ideal. Under the action of force, a small included angle between the stressed fiber bundle and the stressed direction can effectively increase the anchoring effect of their fibers in the matrix, resulting in higher bonding and reinforcement efficiency. To improve the utilization rate of fibers and the bonding strength between the textile and the concrete matrix, an arrangement along the diagonal of the grids was proposed in this paper. The flexural properties of basalt TRC plates with orthogonal grids (OG-BTRC) and plates with nonorthogonal grids (NOG-BTRC) with different grid angles and grid sizes with different laying methods, namely, a side layout (SL) and diagonal layout (DL), were studied through four-point bending tests. A comparative analysis was carried out with an ABAQUS simulation and the test results. The results showed that with a decrease in the grid angle, the BTRC specimens gradually showed a failure mode of multiple cracks, and most of the cracks appeared in the pure bending area; as the grid angle decreased, the BTRC specimens exhibited excellent flexural bearing capacity, good ductility, and high toughness. The total number of cracks on the specimen increased when it failed, while the spacing of the cracks decreased, and the fracture morphology appeared as fine and uniform features. The toughness of the specimen with a small grid angle using the DL laying method was greater than that using the SL laying method. The software simulation value matched the test data well, which proved that the test result was reliable.

RESUMEN

Textile-reinforced concrete (TRC), as a kind of high-crack-resistance and high-corrosion-resistance material, has been widely studied. The current research has begun the exploration of the change of textile form, such as 3D-textile-reinforced concrete (3D TRC), and its superior bending performance has been verified. In order to pursue better mechanical properties, combined with the characteristics of self-stressing concrete and 3D textiles, three-dimensional-textile-reinforced self-stressing concrete (3D-TRSSC) specimens were designed in this research. The expansive and compressive properties of specimens with two types of textiles were tested by self-stress and compressibility tests, and the results showed the compressive property and failure mode of 3D-TRSSC were improved compared with 2D-TRSSC and SSC: the increase in compressive strength was 16.3% and 35.1%, respectively. In order to explain the improvement of the compressive strength of the 3D-TRSSC specimens, the triaxial self-stress state analysis of the compressive specimen was carried out, and then a set of calculation methods based on deformation analysis was designed to explain the upward displacement of the necking position of the TRSSC compressive specimen. The theoretical results and experimental data were 27.2 mm and 28-30 mm, respectively. In addition, the improvement of the compressive strength of the 3D-TRSSC specimens relative to that of the 2D-TRSSC specimen was predicted. The calculation results were highly consistent with the predicted values.

RESUMEN

Two dimensional Dion-Jacobson (2D DJ) perovskite has emerged as a potential photovoltaic material because of its unique optoelectronic characteristics. However, due to its low structural flexibility and high formation energy, extra assistance is needed during crystallization. Herein, we study the solvent effect on film formation and trap states of 2D DJ perovskite. It is found that the nucleation process of 2D DJ perovskite can be retarded by extra coordination, which is proved by in situ optical spectra. As a benefit, out-of-plane oriented crystallization and ordered phase distribution are realized. Finally, in 1,5-pentanediammonium (PeDA) based 2D DJ perovskite solar cells (PSCs), one of the highest reported open-circuit voltage (VOC) values of 1.25 V with state-of-the-art efficiency of 18.41% is obtained due to greatly shallowed trap states and suppressed nonradiative recombination. The device also exhibits excellent heat tolerance, which maintains 80% of its initial efficiency after being kept under 85 °C after 3000 h.

RESUMEN

Although the photovoltaic performance of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) has reached the commercial standards, the unsatisfactory stability limits their further application. Hydrophobic interface and encapsulation can block the damage of water and oxygen, while the instability induced by intrinsic residual strain remains inevitable. Here, the residual strain in a two-dimensional (2D) Ruddlesden-Popper (RP) perovskite film is investigated by X-ray diffraction and atomic force microscopy. It's found that the spacer cations contribute to the residual strain even though they are not in the inorganic cages. Benefited from strain relaxation, the film quality is improved, leading to suppressed recombination, promoted charge transport and enhanced efficiency. More significantly, the strain-released devices maintain 86 % of the initial efficiency after being kept in air with 85 % relative humidity (RH) for 1080 h, 82 % under maximum power point (MPP) tracking at 50 °C for 804 h and 86 % after continuous heating at 85 °C for 1080 h.

RESUMEN

Bromine-containing metal halide all-inorganic perovskite CsPbI2Br exhibits excellent photoelectric performance and supreme thermal and structural stabilities; it is thus attractive for use as photoabsorbing layers in perovskite solar cells (PSCs). However, when steric hindrance molecules are introduced, the complicated phase transition mechanism and the difficult-to-control crystallization process in CsPbI2Br are not well understood. Here, we introduce a class of sterically hindered cesium naphthenate small molecules to control the crystallization process of CsPbI2Br films. Of interest, a new intermediate monoclinic phase has been discovered which leads to formation of dense and nonporous polycrystalline perovskite films. This phenomenon was also explained by density functional theory. The residues of steric hindrance molecules inside the CsPbI2Br film also improve its stability. We further show that as the ring number of cycloalkanes increases, the hindrance for the crystallization becomes more significant. Thus, by choosing the suitable steric hindrance, the optimal photovoltaic efficiency is 15.45%.

RESUMEN

As a new type of repairing and reinforcing material, textile-reinforced concrete (TRC) is often used to improve mechanical properties and durability of offshore, port, and hydraulic structures in the corrosive environment. In order to investigate how to quantify the permeability performance of TRC under external pressurized water, standard concrete permeability tests, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) tests, and scanning electron microscope (SEM) tests were conducted. These tests considered the effects of fiber grid size, Tex content, and water-cement ratio on the impermeability of TRC. Experimental results show that water gathers around the fiber bundles and migrates upwards along the longitudinal fiber under external water pressure and seeps out from the upper surface of the concrete specimen. Furthermore, based on the concentric annular slit flow theory and hydropower similarity principle, this study established a formula for the permeability of TRC and the calculated values are in good agreement with the experimental values.

RESUMEN

Although the hot-casting (HC) technique is prevalent in developing preferred crystal orientation of quasi-2D perovskite films, the difficulty of accurately controlling the thermal homogeneity of substrate is unfavorable for the reproducibility of device fabrication. Herein, a facile and effective non-preheating (NP) film-casting method is proposed to realize highly oriented quasi-2D perovskite films by replacing the butylammonium (BA+ ) spacer partially with methylammonium (MA+ ) cation as (BA)2- x (MA)3+ x Pb4 I13 (x = 0, 0.2, 0.4, and 0.6). At the optimal x-value of 0.4, the resultant quasi-2D perovskite film possesses highly orientated crystals, associated with a dense morphology and uniform grain-size distribution. Consequently, the (BA)1.6 (MA)3.4 Pb4 I13 -based solar cells yield champion efficiencies of 15.44% with NP processing and 16.29% with HC processing, respectively. As expected, the HC-processed device shows a poor performance reproducibility compared with that of the NP film-casting method. Moreover, the unsealed device (x = 0.4) displays a better moisture stability with respect to the x = 0 stored in a 65% ± 5% relative humility chamber.

RESUMEN

Reaching the full potential of solar cells based on photo-absorbers of organic-inorganic hybrid perovskites requires highly efficient charge extraction at the interface between perovskite and charge transporting layer. This demand is generally challenged by the presence of under-coordinated metal or halogen ions, causing surface charge trapping and resultant recombination losses. These problems can be tackled by introducing a small molecule interfacial anchor layer based on dimethylbiguanide (DMBG). Benefitting from interactions between the nitrogen-containing functional groups in DMBG and unsaturated ions in CH3 NH3 PbI3 perovskites, the electron extraction of TiO2 is dramatically improved in association with reduced Schottky-Read-Hall recombination, as revealed by photoluminescence spectroscopy. As a consequence, the power conversion efficiency of CH3 NH3 PbI3 solar cells is boosted from 17.14 to 19.1 %, showing appreciably reduced hysteresis. The demonstrated molecular strategy based on DMBG enables one to achieve meliorations on key figures of merit in halide perovskite solar cells with improved stability.
